Tracking the Trek Across Maine with the inReach

Team DeLorme will be heading out on our eighth Trek Across Maine ride in an hour or so. We’ll be leaving from Sunday River in the mountains of Maine and riding to the town of Belfast on the Maine coast. We will ride from one side of the state to the other, covering 180 miles over the next three days. We will join over 2,000 other riders as part of a fund raising effort for the American Lung Association to help with their fight against lung disease and their effort to improve air quality throughout the country.

I have the route, all the waypoints, and the track on my PN so that I can see my profile and watch the miles go by on the device. It’s a great way to keep track of statistics on a long ride.

You can follow Team DeLorme at our MapShare page, I will be tracking all three days with DeLorme’s inReach and Earthmate PN-60w, sending updates to Twitter and the MapShare page from each rest stop. If you send me a message during the ride I will enter you in a drawing to win one of DeLorme’s highly coveted cycling jerseys!

Prizes, Promotions, and Professionals – Team DeLorme at Outside in Aspen

Join Team DeLorme at the third annual Outside in Aspen, Ultimate Weekend Getaway!

We are pleased to be sponsoring this fun event and hope you will be able to visit our booth in the Outside in Aspen Base Camp.

Eric Larsen, modern-day explorer and expedition guide, will be joining DeLorme at the event to talk about his adventures and use of DeLorme’s inReach two-way satellite communicator.

Eric will be leading a hike on Saturday, using the inReach to let people at Base Camp follow the group’s location and read messages about the hike. He will be available at the DeLorme booth during the rest of the weekend for autographs and to share slides and stories from his recent trips. Stop by for an autograph and a chance to win one of the many prizes DeLorme will be giving away.

DeLorme will also be tracking the location of several other professional athletes as they participate in events at Outside in Aspen. You can follow big mountain skier Chis Davenport as he leads a Fourteener climb; watch adventure racer and mountain biker Sari Anderson lead a mountain bike trip; and track triathlete Jesse Thomas as he leads a road ride and competes in the Outside in Aspen Triathlon.

You can follow Eric and all of the other professional athletes on Team DeLorme’s MapShare and watch as visitors to Outside in Aspen try out the new inReach for themselves.
