Tracking the Trek Across Maine with the inReach

Team DeLorme will be heading out on our eighth Trek Across Maine ride in an hour or so. We’ll be leaving from Sunday River in the mountains of Maine and riding to the town of Belfast on the Maine coast. We will ride from one side of the state to the other, covering 180 miles over the next three days. We will join over 2,000 other riders as part of a fund raising effort for the American Lung Association to help with their fight against lung disease and their effort to improve air quality throughout the country.

I have the route, all the waypoints, and the track on my PN so that I can see my profile and watch the miles go by on the device. It’s a great way to keep track of statistics on a long ride.

You can follow Team DeLorme at our MapShare page, I will be tracking all three days with DeLorme’s inReach and Earthmate PN-60w, sending updates to Twitter and the MapShare page from each rest stop. If you send me a message during the ride I will enter you in a drawing to win one of DeLorme’s highly coveted cycling jerseys!

I hope to hear from you soon but first I’m off to breakfast!

Ride safe,

Chip Noble

First off good luck and have a safe trip.I think the Delorme PN-60 is great that I have here but now wish I had brought the PN-60W with the InReach so I could keep in touch with my wife while I go off on my Big Dummy trip up to Bangor Maine some time this year.

    Hi Chris –

That was my first Trek Across Maine …… unbelieveable experience and incredibly well organized by 750 volunteers.

I loved and hated your maps. That last big hill will haunt me for awhile.

I’m looking for your map on the map share page but couldn’t get it to come up

    Congratulations to Team DeLorme!
